Summer events for teens start next week, but you can register now so you don’t miss out!

Game Programming with Scratch
Tuesday, June 13, 2:00 p.m.
Learn to build simple games with MIT’s Scratch programming language – no programming experience required! Grades 7-12. Registration required. Please bring a laptop if possible.
String Art
Thursday, June 15, 2:00 p.m.
String art allows you to place pins in a unique design, then weave strings around the pins to create a pattern. Create your own design or choose one of ours to make a one-of-a-kind piece of art! Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Green Spa Summer Survival Guide
Saturday, June 17, 2:00 p.m.
These make-it-yourself spa recipes will keep your skin happy this summer! Participants will make their own spa products and go home with the recipes. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Needle Felting
Monday, June 19, 2:00 p.m.
Needle felting lets you “paint” with pieces of wool onto a wool square using a special felting needle. Create any design you choose. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Edible Architecture Contest
Thursday, June 22, 2:00 p.m.
Cure your wander lust by making your favorite architectural wonder out of edible materials like marshmallows, crackers, and frosting! Participants will vote for their favorite structure and winners receive a prize. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (PG-13)
Monday, June 26, 2:00 p.m.
In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star. Snacks will be provided. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Design a Terrarium
Wednesday, June 28, 2:00 p.m.
Create a mini indoor garden using glass containers, gravel, moss, soil and plants. Feel free to bring any small figures or items to include in your terrarium. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Big Reading Buddies
Wednesday, June 28, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, July 5, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Mentor a Little Buddy to help boost young readers’ skills. Big Reading Buddies will receive two grand prize drawing tickets and enjoy refreshments. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Explosion Books
Friday, June 30, 2:00 p.m.
Explosion books are small journals made of a folded, continuous piece of paper. Create your own to use as a sketchbook, journal, or photo book. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Design Your World
Thursday, July 6, 2:00 p.m.
What does your dream world look like? Ms. Marisa Lynn Choate will teach you to draw buildings using one point perspective before you sketch and paint your world. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (PG-13)
Friday, July 7, 2:00 p.m.
Newt Scamander arrives in 1926 New York to research magical creatures. When No-Maj Jacob Kowalski frees Newt’s beasts, their mission to find them collides with dark forces. Snacks will be provided. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
The Science of Sound
Tuesday, July 11, 2:00 p.m.
Learn about the science of how musical instruments work as you construct your own wind instrument out of common materials. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Mixed Media Collages
Friday, July 14, 2:00 p.m.
Let your creativity run wild! Turn a plain canvas into art using paper, magazines, Washi tape, felt, string, Sharpies, embellishments, and more. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Teens BBQ 101
Monday, July 17, 2:00 p.m.
Get your BBQ on this summer! Chef Susan Maddox will demonstrate various techniques in preparing some easy, delicious BBQ dishes. Recipes and tasting of the dishes will be provided. Grades 7-12. Registration required.
Escape the Room
Thursday, July 20, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. OR 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
St. John the Baptist School parking lot, 0S259 Church St.
Your group has one hour to solve a series of riddles, puzzles, clues, and challenges in order to save the world, but beware as twists and turns lie around every corner! Register for only one of the two time slots and BE ON TIME. Once the doors to the room close, they can’t be opened until the escape! Grades 7-12. Registration required.
