Celebrate our prairie heritage this fall through book discussions and special events. We will read and discuss the classic novel O Pioneers! by Willa Cather. Teens may join the book groups and special events listed below.
OPioneersDover O Pioneers! by Willa Cather
When her father dies, Alexandra Bergson, daughter of Swedish immigrants, assumes responsibility for her family and their Nebraska farm. Books are available to check out at the Adult Services desk. Join us on any of the four book discussion dates listed below. Two are at night and two are during the day. Although most of you will be in school, teen homeschoolers are welcome to attend the daytime discussions!

The American landscape has inspired countless artists to capture its complexity, diversity and beauty. In this slide lecture, art historian Jeff Mishur discusses the work of famous U.S. nature painters such as Andrew Wyeth, Thomas Cole, Winslow Homer and Albert Bierstadt. Registration recommended.
