Mojo“What are you, like a bizarre trouble magnet or something? You’re always running into dead guys or missing girls’ running shoes or dead guys’ cousins.”

Finding the dead body of Hector Maldonado changed Dylan’s life. Once the police decided it was drugs that killed Hector, it was case closed. Dylan didn’t agree, but what could he do for Hector now? Might as well move on.

Then, he hears about missing rich girl Ashton Browning. Now, here’s someone Dylan just might be able to help, and he decides to become a full-fledged investigative journalist for the school paper. Soon Dylan is sucked into Ashton’s world of secret gangs, drugs, and high-stakes games. Will he ever find out who kidnapped Ashton and realize his destiny as a crime investigator extraordinaire?

My review: Check out Mojo if you like mystery stories with a twist ending, love seeing the excesses of super-rich teens, and like a good combo of funny and serious. The investigation into Ashton’s disappearance leads to threats and even a beating for Dylan, but Dylan’s search for his investigative mojo with the help of his old friends as funny sidekicks lightens up the book. A good pick for mystery fans who might be searching for their own mojo.
