AlsoKnownAs“Your job has always been to be a spy. And now you’re going to be a spy in a high school. That’s all it is. No more, no less.”

Maggie is a born safecracker. No, seriously, she picked her first lock at age three, much to the relief of her parents, established spies who could only hope for a daughter as naturally talented as Maggie. She’s spent her whole life using her skills to help stop the world’s worst criminals, but now her cover is about to be blown.

A notoriously paranoid magazine owner is about to publish an article blowing the whistle on their organization. Luckily, his son Jesse is in high school, which puts Maggie in the perfect position to befriend him, get into his house, steal his father’s documents, and be the youngest spy ever to successfully head her own operation. But what happens when a teenage spy likes being a normal high schooler a little too much?

My review:
A fun caper filled with great characters. Maggie’s new best friend Roux is a complete riot who has her own deadpan doorman sidekick, Jesse can only be described as dreamy, and Maggie’s mentor Angelo is a forger extraordinaire described as “if Tim Gunn and James Bond had a baby, and that baby was Yoda.” Come on, that’s just awesome. It was also fun to see how someone as worldly in so many ways as Maggie can be so unsure when it comes to normal things like high school parties, dating, or having a curfew.

This is a perfect light read for spring. If you’ve read other spy comedy/adventures like Heist Society, you’ll love Also Known As.
