Book Review: The Vindico by Wesley King

“If you turn a bunch of kids into supervillains, you can’t expect them to follow the rules.”

Being kidnapped by supervillains would normally be a bad thing. But hey, get a few powers, and the lines between good and evil start to blur. Are the five newest members of the Vindico (aka the Villains) being brainwashed into leaving their old lives behind, or is their destiny truly villainy? As they go through their training, learning more about the Vindico and their enemies, the League of Superheroes, they know they’ll eventually have to pick a side…and it might not be the one you’d think.

My Review: First of all, who hasn’t thought about what it would be like to have a superpower? Now imagine someone was willing to give you those powers! It wouldn’t be that hard to be sucked into the Vindico’s world with that sort of enticement, and it was really interesting to see how the different characters decided their destinies. With superhero wish-fulfillment, great gadgets, and an all-out battle between heroes and villains, this action-packed story is a great choice for a fun summer read.
