It’s that time of year again – book awards season!  Here are some of the winners and honor books you can find at Winfield Library…

Going Bovine by BrayThe Printz Award
An award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.

This year’s winner is “Going Bovine” by Libba Bray.  Also check out honor book “The Monstrumologist” by Rick Yancey.

Flash Burnout by MadiganThe Morris Award
Honors a debut book published by a first-time author writing for teens.

The winner is “Flash Burnout” by L.K. Madigan.  Other finalists were “Ash” by Malinda Lo, “Beautiful Creatures” by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, “The Everafter” by Amy Huntley, and “Hold Still” by Nina LaCour.

Have you already read these?  Congrats!  You have award-winning taste.  If not, give one a try.  There’s something for everyone: “The Monstrumologist” for horror fans, “Ash” for retold fairy tales, “Hold Still” for realistic fiction readers, and “Beautiful Creatures,” a paranormal tale with a twist of romance told from the guy’s point of view.  Check one out!
