I’m back

Oh my blog, how I have neglected you!  I just realized my last post was a week ago, what’s with that?  Well, you’ll be glad to know that I have been out there working for you.

I’ve been busy planning our programs for this year’s Summer Reading, and here’s a taste - we’re having an acting and improv class, our second Day of Manga, and tons more.   I’m considering doing an after-hours open mic night - comment me if you’d be into that.

And, if you think I don’t read your comments/suggestions, think again, because that acting class idea came straight from last summer’s program survey, so if you’re dying for us to have a program, let me know…

Hey, also if you aren’t sure what I look like or who to approach about stuff like this or about books or whatever, here I am.

Summer Reading Ideas

Believe it or not, Summer Reading will soon be here again, and we’re already starting to plan for it.

Here’s your shot to help us make the Summer Reading program better than ever!  Just comment or email your ideas.

We want to know about programs, prizes, what you loved/hated about last year’s program, and general stuff you want us to know.

Speak now…

Enjoy Good Old Days!

If you’re out enjoying Good Old Days this weekend, be sure to stop by the library for the Library Friends’ Booksale.  Books are just a dollar for hardcovers and fifty cents for paperbacks.    Or, come by from 9 – 4 Saturday and pick up some snacks at our bake sale, located at the entrance to the meeting room.

If you’ve ever wanted revenge on your friendly neighborhood librarian, now’s your chance!  Our library director will be in the dunk tank on Saturday from noon to 1:00, and if you dunk him, you’ll get a coupon for $1 off fines.

Want to know what else is going on around town this weekend?  Visit the Good Old Days website now!

Summer Reading Finale

Don’t miss your chance to see if you’ve won a grand prize in our Summer Reading Program!  You could win a gift certificate to Borders, Target, or Charlestowne Movie Theater, so swing by the library Wednesday, August 1st at 7:00 p.m.  We’ll have live music in the parking lot, so park at St. John’s if you’re driving.

Hope to see you there…

Join Summer Reading and get free stuff

Ah, the lure of free stuff…works every time.  Summer Reading sign-up starts Monday June 4 and the part where you actually have to read is from June 11 to July 21.

Here’s Summer Reading in three easy steps:

Step 1: Read.  Just read whatever you want, we’re not the book police and we won’t tell you what you can or can’t read for our program.

Step 2: Come to the library once a week and tell us how many hours you read that week.  You tell us, we’ll give you free stuff, as promised.

Step 3:  For every hour you’ve read, fill out a prize slip to be entered to win a grand prize.  This year, you can win gift certificates to Borders, Target, or other places (ask me next week about the third choice…I can’t remember!)

Summertime

Hey all,

Don’t forget to sign up for our next teen program, Sarong Sewing.  You’ll make your own swimsuit cover-up from fabric of your choice, this Saturday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.  You’ll need to bring two yards of lightweight fabric, 36 or 44 inches wide.

Just call us to register at 630.653.7599 or email us at wfdstaff@winfieldlib.il.us

Enjoy!
