Just a Reminder

Just a reminder that today’s planned New Moon Party had to be cancelled because of a problem with our license to show Twilight at the library.  I’ll see if I can reschedule, but meanwhile, don’t come to the library expecting this party today, because I won’t be here!  Sorry about that.

The next event coming up will be during the library’s holiday open house, on Saturday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m.  We’ll be taking old books and remaking them into custom journals and scrapbooks.  Hope you can make it!  Registration for winter programs will start in about a week.

Celebrate Earth Day!

You can sign up now for my next program, where we’ll go a little green and make coiled paper bowls out of old magazines.   Join me on Saturday, April 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.  I know three hours sounds like a long time, but all that folding and coiling takes time!   You’ll probably walk away with a small bowl, similar in size to this one I made, which is about four inches across.

This event is for grades 6 to 12.  Sign up online at the library’s website at http://www.winfield.lib.il.us/evanced/lib/eventcalendar.asp.  I’ve got plenty of magazines, and you don’t have to have a library card to attend, so feel free to have a friend register with you!

See you then,
Katie

Catch a falling star

Come to the library Monday night to catch “Stardust” on the library’s big screen.  We’ll be showing the movie November 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the large meeting room.  You do have to be 13 because the movie is PG-13.

A young man named Tristran tries to win the heart of Victoria by retrieving a magical fallen star. His journey leads him to a forbidden land where he discovers that others are also seeking the star. The four sons of the king and an evil witch battle Tristran for the prize in this wondrous fantasy world.   This movie is fantastic, funny, adventurous and romantic, so check it out with us!

We’ll have snacks, and for those of you who have been to our movies before, I finally figured out how to temporarily cover that light I can’t turn off!  So come and enjoy the movie, or if you can’t make it, we have the book by Neil Gaiman in the young adult fiction section of the library.
