Teens’ Top Ten
The 2011 Teens’ Top Ten were just announced! More than 9,000 teens voted for the best books of 2010/11 and here are the results:

The Teens’ Top Ten is a top ten list chosen by and for teens, so get your vote in today! Readers age 12-18 can vote from now until September 16. Vote for three of the nominated titles in the online TTT survey. Winners will be announced during Teen Read Week, October 16-22. Are you voting for a book that I missed? Sunday night was Grammy night, and I must say, I loved that someone finally one-upped Gaga. She might have been hatched from an egg, but Cee Lo was a full-on bird! For a complete list of the winners, go to Grammy.com, then come to the library and check out these winning CDs:

Awards Season
It’s that time of year again – book awards season! Here are some of the winners and honor books you can find at Winfield Library…
The Printz Award
An award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.
This year’s winner is “Going Bovine” by Libba Bray. Also check out honor book “The Monstrumologist” by Rick Yancey.
The Morris Award
Honors a debut book published by a first-time author writing for teens.
The winner is “Flash Burnout” by L.K. Madigan. Other finalists were “Ash” by Malinda Lo, “Beautiful Creatures” by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, “The Everafter” by Amy Huntley, and “Hold Still” by Nina LaCour.
Have you already read these? Congrats! You have award-winning taste. If not, give one a try. There’s something for everyone: “The Monstrumologist” for horror fans, “Ash” for retold fairy tales, “Hold Still” for realistic fiction readers, and “Beautiful Creatures,” a paranormal tale with a twist of romance told from the guy’s point of view.
